Lithium Battery Recycling Expansion Project Progresses with LANRAN Electrodialysis Technology

Supporting Lithium Resource Recovery from Spent LFP Batteries

With the rapid development of electric vehicles and energy storage systems, the demand for lithium resources continues to increase. Meanwhile, efficient recycling of spent lithium-ion batteries has become an important pathway for resource conservation and sustainable battery supply chains.

Located in Qujing, Yunnan Province, China, this lithium battery recycling expansion project focuses on the comprehensive utilization of spent lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries. Through hydrometallurgical recycling processes, valuable lithium resources are recovered from battery materials and converted into reusable resources.

Since 2020, LANRAN has participated in multiple phases of lithium concentration projects at this site, providing membrane separation solutions to support lithium recovery and resource utilization.

LANRAN Electrodialysis System for Lithium Recovery

For this expansion phase, LANRAN is supplying a two-stage electrodialysis system based on semi-homogeneous membrane technology.

The system is designed to purify and concentrate lithium nitrate (LiNO₃) from cathode material leaching solutions, improving lithium recovery efficiency in the hydrometallurgical recycling process of spent LFP batteries.

By applying advanced electrodialysis technology, the system helps optimize lithium solution treatment, reduce resource loss, and support the production of high-value lithium products from recycled battery materials.

Project Installation Progress

The electrodialysis equipment was shipped on July 18, 2026, and delivered to the project site starting July 21.

Following equipment arrival, the LANRAN project team quickly coordinated installation activities and worked closely with on-site partners to advance equipment positioning, piping installation, and system integration.

The project is currently progressing according to schedule, with commissioning preparation underway.

Advancing Sustainable Battery Recycling

Upon completion, the electrodialysis system will further enhance lithium resource recovery capabilities at the recycling facility, supporting more efficient utilization of valuable resources from spent lithium batteries.

Through ion exchange membrane technology and industrial electrodialysis solutions, LANRAN continues to support global customers in developing cleaner and more sustainable resource recovery processes.
