Lanran Tech Wins First Prize at the Membrane Industry Association of China Science & Technology Awards
Lanran Technology Co., Ltd. has won the First Prize of the 2025 Science & Technology Award from the Membrane Industry Association of China for its project “Bipolar Membrane Electrodialysis Technology for Acid-Alkali Resource Recovery from Lithium Battery Solid Waste.”
This achievement recognizes Lanran’s innovation in bipolar membrane electrodialysis (BMED) and its contribution to green manufacturing and sustainable resource recovery in the lithium battery industry.
Innovative Solution for Lithium Battery Waste
As the lithium battery and new energy sectors expand, solid waste and high-salinity wastewater treatment have become major challenges. Lanran’s BMED technology enables direct conversion of lithium-containing waste brine into reusable acids and bases, achieving zero liquid discharge (ZLD) and resource recycling.
Compared to traditional thermal methods:
Capital cost reduced to 30%
Operating cost reduced to 10%
Resource savings over ¥50 million for clients
Technical Highlights
High conversion efficiency: Acid and alkali concentration >2N, water dissociation efficiency ≥98.5%
Stable and durable: Membrane lifespan >2 years, lower energy use and carbon emissions
Industrial scale: 3 invention patents, 5 utility patents, 250,000 t/a total application capacity
Widespread Industrial Applications
Lanran’s BMED technology is now used in Xinjiang, Qinghai, Tibet, Sichuan, and Anhui, supporting industries such as lithium battery recycling, viscose fiber, pharmaceuticals, chemicals, metallurgy, and paper manufacturing.
This innovation provides an economical, low-carbon, and circular solution, promoting sustainable industrial transformation and contributing to China’s carbon neutrality goals.
