Lanran CCUS Application Solutions Series | Case IV
Case: 50,000 t/a CO₂ Capture from Low-Concentration Flue Gas in Hainan
Background: This project is part of a full-process low-concentration flue gas CCUS demonstration platform. The cement plant aimed to capture 50,000 tons of CO₂ annually for diversified utilization.
Low-concentration CO₂ flue gas requires very efficient absorption and stable amine solvents. However, impurities and Heat Stable Salts (HSS) in the amine loop caused absorption decline, foaming, and higher energy consumption.
Lanran Solution: Lanran supplied an AC25-90 containerized ED system for amine purification. HSS salts are continuously removed electrochemically, maintaining solvent quality. No chemical regenerants are needed, avoiding secondary waste. The modular containerized system is compact and easy to integrate.
Technology Advantages
✔ Enables large-scale capture from low-concentration flue gas.
✔ Facilitates multiple CO₂ utilization pathways.
✔ Lower energy consumption vs. thermal solvent reclaiming.
Results & Impact:
Captured CO₂ is applied to Carbon-rich agriculture (e.g., crop yield enhancement), microalgae CO₂ fixation and production of methanol and olefins.
Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) and long-term geological storage.
Amine solvent performance is maintained with HSS below 1%.
